can't find a thread on this. I was looking at it the other day and wondered why there wasn't a gig-ography ..couldn't find one if there was. Considering they are an amazing live band surely they should have a list of dates, where they played and setlists if available.. no?

apologies if it already has it. It was 2 am when i looked.

Well, that doesn't mean it has to stay like that... :mdr:
I think we have a lot of information on this forum already.
So I guess someone just needs to volunteer and start adding some information to the Wikipedia site... :^^:
 Why don't we all try to collect the relevant information in here and then copy it over to the Wiki!?

it would be nice to have details about the last couple of tours especially... the solo gig in may too. Is there info on the solo stuff on there?

noticed a few mistakes on there. It says a-ha almost called themselves A-men when in fact the idea for the band name came from the words *a-ha* or *a-hem* that Morten spotted in paul's notebook as songtitles. They never considered A-men as a band name.

also the first song morten heard magne and paul play was a song called *the juicy fruit song* which had the synth riff that ended up on TOM. It wasn't called Lesson One at the time.

I think Wiki is a powerful tool for promotion.
I wrote all the pages on the Italian version and I'm keeping them updated as much as possible.
I also did few edits to the English one.
As long as you respect rules and templates you are allowed to add lots of info there.

Just noticed a very detailed Wikipedia page about the "Foot of the mountain" album/single, including an update on the chart positions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foot_of_the_Mountain

Cool. Didn't know that the album went to #1 in Luxenbourg. Every #1 is cool! Hope this is true.
It is out there, and I'm down here.. and so far from it all!

Never completely rely on Wiki because it can be edited by anyone. Fans generally update with correct information or a rumour.

I know it's not as comprehensive of your idea I am planning to clean up all the articles about a-ha on Wikipedia, because alot of the pages leave alot to be desired. I'm also wanting to create articles for all the remaining singles that don't have them (these are currently; "Love is Reason", "Maybe, Maybe", "You Are The One", "There's Never a Forever Thing", "I Call Your Name", "Early Morning", "Foot of the Mountain", "Nothing Is Keeping You Here" and "Shadowside").

As I'm not amazing at creating Wikipedia articles I would very much appreciate some help as well as some expertise on some of the more obscure areas of discussion. Also anyone who can reference some of the information would be very welcome to contribute (this is Wikipedia after all). I'm just sick of some bands having such massive collections of polished articles and the articles about a-ha do not all seem to be very up to date or well-researched.

If anyone is interested in joining me on this "crusade" then just do what you can around Wikipedia or, if you're not really in on the whole Wiki-thing, just message me and such. Maybe soon we can actually get a gig-ography going ;) Who knows?

Great first post, MaxL! I love hearing from motivated people :mdr:

I'd love to help but I don't have time to do any organizing - so if there is something specific you need help with, just ask here and I am sure people will volunteer!

A-ha on Wikipedia

Postby Sirleopards » Fri Mar 05, 2010 6:33 am

Hi everybody!

I'm new to the forum, but I've loved A-ha since the 8os.
The first thing I want to bring to attention is that somebody needs to bring the Wikipedia entries on the band up to par. The FOTM page is especially messy. And why aren't there any articles on the FOTM singles? I was a bit disappointed in that.

Apart from that, this forum is great and a marvellous source for A-ha related info! Have a good day! :bye:

There is alot that can also be said about a-ha's musicvideos

Some videos that should get a special mention:

Train of Thought ( Same type of video as Take On Me )

Manhattan Skyline

Hunting High and Low ( Very stylish and highteck video, who unfortuently has had to stanbd in the shadow of Take On Me )

Celice ( Caused contrversy in Norway because of it's nude and sexual content. shot at a brothel in Berlin. Heatseeking camera used to make effects )

Velvet ( Caused controversy in Norway for it's necrofilia content. directed by Hollywood director Harald Zwart )

Minor earth Major Sky ( said to be a-ha's most expensive video )

Dark is the Night ( Banned in several countries for it's content )

Angel in the snow ( Two versions of this video. One of them including lucky a-ha contestant winners starring oposite a-ha )

The Sun Always Shines On TV ( sparked controversy in the USA for being shot in a church. Certain elements from Take On Me in this one too )

Take On Me ( No introduction needed )

Lifelines ( Video shot over a whole year and compressed into 4 minutes )

Forever Not Yours ( Lot of lookalikes of famous people in this one. This one is also shot by Hollywood direcor Harald Zwart )

Update (sort of): I've been extensively cleaning up some articles for numerous artists such as Tears for Fears, Go West and a-ha on Wikipedia. So far I've created pages for FotM (single) and NIKYH (single) and will be making a Shadowside shortly. After that I'll be relying on some other peeps to assist me in making pages for older singles, tours and maybe making the album pages a bit more detailed (only HH&L and FotM have very detailed pages). So if you've got any info feel free to share, I'm getting better at Wikipedia editing but without valid information and sources it means nothing
